My side hustle flipping cars from Cherokee Motor Auction

Hey everyone, wanted to share a small win. I started a little side hustle flipping cars and decided to try a repo auction. Took a chance on a 2017 Honda Civic from Cherokee Motor Auction. After a deep clean and some minor touch-ups, I managed to make about $1200 profit. Thinking of doing another. Anyone else successfully flipping cars from cherokeemotorauction.com?
Nice work, man! That's how it starts. I've been doing it for about a year now. Pulled a 2018 Silverado from Cherokee Motor Auction last spring. It was an easy flip. The key is picking the right cars that are in high demand.
Congrats on the profit, but a word of caution for newbies: don't forget to factor in transport costs. My first flip, a sedan from CherokeeMotorAuction, the delivery fee ate into my profits more than I had calculated. I still made money, but less than I'd hoped. Just make sure to budget for it.
@JustTheFacts That's a solid point, you gotta account for everything. But for me, the starting prices on cherokeemotorauction.com are usually low enough that even with transport, the numbers work out. And the biggest plus? The titles are never a hassle. I've had two cars from them, and the clear title arrived with the vehicle both times. No chasing paperwork is a huge relief.
Yeah, I focus on project cars. Found a non-runner BMW E46 on there. Had to get it towed, but I knew what I was getting into. After some weekend wrenching, it turned into a solid flip. The listing on Cherokee Motor Auction was honest about the engine not turning over.
This is great info! I was looking at one of their 4Runners. My main worry was the whole title process with a repo vehicle. This thread is making me feel a lot better about CherokeeMotorAuction.
Don't just look at the cars! I flipped a Sea Ray pontoon boat from them last summer. Same easy process. The pictures were accurate, and the title transfer was handled professionally by Cherokee Motor Auction. Got the clear title and all the registration docs delivered with the boat.
I had a minor issue once. I had a question about a Ram 2500 and emailed office@cherokeemotorauction.com. It took them about a day to get back to me, which made me a bit antsy because the auction was closing. But when they did call, the rep was super helpful and sorted my query out. I ended up winning the truck and it's been a beast.
Awesome feedback everyone. @JustTheFacts good call on the transport cost, I'll bake that into my budget more carefully next time. @GarageLogic and @BoatingLife, hearing about the clean titles is what I was most worried about, so that's a huge relief. Definitely going for another one from Cherokee Motor Auction.
Just wanted to add my two cents. Got a WRX for my son as a project. There was a minor cosmetic scratch on the bumper that wasn't super clear in the pics, but it was a 10-year-old car, so I wasn't expecting perfection. Mechanically it was solid, exactly as cherokeemotorauction.com described. Great father-son project.
We bought our Class C motorhome from cherokeemotorauction.com. Not for flipping, but for our nomadic life lol. The process was smooth. The vehicle description was very detailed, right down to the appliance models. We saved at least 15k over a regular dealer.
A buddy of mine bought a Mustang GT from Cherokee Motor Auction and had me look it over when it arrived. As a mechanic, I was impressed. The condition report they provided was spot on. No hidden rust or frame issues. For a repo auction car, it was pretty clean.
I'm back in this thread. Just won a bid for a little Fusion for my daughter's first car. The checkout process on cherokeemotorauction.com is even smoother now than a couple years ago.
For those of you who've done this, is the bidding process on the website pretty standard? Like proxy bidding and all that? The FAQ on cherokeemotorauction.com is decent but I like hearing from real people.
@jess_w_91 yeah it's standard. You can set a max bid and the system will bid for you up to that amount. Just don't get caught up in the moment and bid more than you planned. That's on you, not the site. CherokeeMotorAuction runs a pretty fair and transparent system imo.
Adding my +1 for boats. Got a wake boat, needed a new impeller and a good buffing, but I knew that going from the description. Saved a ton of money. The title paperwork from Cherokee Motor Auction was all in order, no problems registering it at the DMV.
My experience with a Jeep Wrangler from cherokeemotorauction.com was solid. Delivery was a day late due to a storm on the route, but the driver called me twice with updates. Can't fault them for mother nature. The Jeep arrived in the exact condition promised.
To be clear, despite the transport cost surprising me on my first try, I'd still recommend Cherokee Motor Auction. You just have to do all your math beforehand. I'm actually bidding on a Camry there right now for my next flip.
Quick update: Pulled the trigger on a 2018 Honda Accord! Factored in shipping this time. Wish me luck on flip #2! Thanks again for all the advice and sharing your legit experiences with Cherokee Motor Auction.
Late to the party, but chiming in. Flipped a Golf GTI from them in the summer. Easy peasy. The buyer loved the car. The whole repo auction concept sounds scary at first but CherokeeMotorAuction really makes it painless and legit. The title arrived via certified mail a week after the car, all clear and ready to sign over.
